Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen is a resort on a Spanish island called Lanzarote, which is a part of the Canary Islands. It is the oldest and the most popular resort on the island. In this small town you can enjoy all the possible entertainments from beautiful sandy beaches to casinos and luxury private villas.
Puerto resort is located in the southern central part of the island and it is only a 10 minute drive from Arrecife Airport. Originally Puerto del Carmen was originally a small fishing village, but it has done a great way to the popularity like famous Lithuanian city of Klaipeda, which has grown into a major port on the Baltic Sea.
During the last decade Puerto del Carmen has been growing constantly and now its golden sandy beaches stretch along 6 kilometers of the coastline. Most beaches of this Atlantic resort are awarded with the blue flag of EEC for cleanliness and high level of services. Despite the huge progress the town has not been spoiled by the high-rise buildings, which are now the main feature of the modern resorts.
The Canary Islands as a whole and Puerto del Carmen itself are among the most beloved with the tourists European tourist destinations along with French Nice and the magnificent Italian Liguria region. Due to the mild climate of the Lanzarote Island in Puerto del Carmen all services work all year round and all hotels are opened 24hour.
Among the cultural events of Puerto del Carmen is worth seeing the Carnival, which takes place at the end of February to the Beginning of March and attracts many visitors from all over Europe. And in the end of July is held the Fiesta de Carmen with folklore performances, singing and dancing.
In Puerto del Carmen are more than 100 restaurants, which serve different dishes from fast food to gourmet eating and delicacies. There are also a lot of offers for booking a hotel room in Puerto del Carmen or a cottage in Puerto del Carmen. All services that are available in them are of the high level as on the whole Canary Islands.
